About
Ola. I’m Rey. 20 years old (with exclusion of the 70year old wannabe-wise man that seems to reside somewhere in my brains). I was born in The Netherlands (stereotyped by weed and a not-so-big-anymore-red light district) to Surinam parents (little country in northern South-America with barely half a million people) which themselves are the product of Indian immigrants –that’s right, I got 3 cultures pulling at my hair. In Holland I am Surinamese, in Suriname I am Dutch and in India I’m anything but Indian (so they say).
If I have to be labeled. I’m a firm believer of karma. Give as you get and your already on the stairs going up.
I started the blogthing because I’ve been made to believe it could be my redemption. It all started on a fateful sunny afternoon years ago on vacation in the South-American Surinam, when there was a copy of Philip Roth’s Portnoy’s Complaint lying on my grandfather’s coffee table, just staring at me –so yes “the book finds you, and not the other way around.” Being an avid reader for quite some time now, I’ve been writing notes before I forget these flashes of idiocy, ranging from single words or sentences which I wake up with in the middle of the night to complete dialogues with the inner old man aforementioned.
I study Communication at the Utrecht University of Applied Sciences. I don’t know why, but there’s just nothing else I could see myself doing while keeping my eye on my potentially joining a big corporate money making machine –they’ve all been losing it as of recently though. Opposed to the current goal (getting a degree in a broad field of profession to act as my back-up parachute when I fall), in a year or two I’d also like to start a ”noble” study, Literature and Philosophy are the prime suspects.

Yeah, I’m a bad writer and a worse photographer (because, is it me? Or does it look like my skinny ass is pregnant on the picture…)
Well, that’s that.. This boy is scowering through notes, thinking what chronologically should be the next entry on this thing,
Ahoy.
